I wasn’t planning on sharing my recipe for garlic bread as it feels pretty basic and simple, but then I had several of you asking what I pair with a lot of my soups, bowls, and pastas. And many times the answer to that is garlic bread, so I figured I would share my recipe for that as well.

Garlic bread is just such a reliable, classic staple comfort food that I feel like could pair well with almost any other type of food out there.

Here is how I usually make my garlic bread.

I hope you enjoy.

Ingredient notes…

Here is what you’ll need to make this Garlic Bread recipe. Please be sure to check the recipe card for the exact ingredients and measurements.

  • Bread: I like using a loaf of French Bread, but you can use anything you prefer. People often use a baguette, or even thick Texas toast. I like to use French Bread because my husband and stepsons eat a lot, and I would probably have to make several baguettes at once.
  • Butter: I use softened, salted butter, but you can use unsalted if you want, grass-fed, or even margarine if you prefer. I do find that just classic butter tastes best though.
  • Garlic: I like using either fresh garlic cloves, or jarred/ minced garlic. You can use garlic powder if you don’t have anything fresh, or sometimes there are even like garlic bread seasoning powders as well.
  • Italian seasoning: I add a bit of Italian seasoning just to give it a little bit of something extra.
  • Salt: I like to add a little bit more salt. If using salted butter you just have to be careful not to make it too salty.

My tips and tricks to make this Garlic Bread recipe…

The easiest: Make sure you soften the butter in the microwave for a few minutes to stop from tearing the bread to pieces.

Cheesy: Add your favorite cheese to make this bread cheesy.

Vegan: You can substitute vegan butter to make this recipe vegan.

Storage notes:

Room temp: You can store any leftover bread in an airtight container for a few days, but it’s best when it’s fresh. You can always try microwaving it on a plate with a wet paper towel for a few seconds to try to soften it up. If the container isn’t airtight it will dry out and get rock hard.

Freeze: You can actually freeze the garlic bread BEFORE you bake it. Simply cover it with butter and put in a freezer safe container and store in the freezer for up to three months and then bake as directed. You may have to add a few for minutes to the time however.

My burnout situation…

One of the things that I really feel can make or break someone’s situation when dealing with burnout from work is the professionals who are supporting them: their benefits people (if they have them) and any medical professionals.

I am extremely lucky that I have a great therapist who has been extremely supportive and basically a lifeline to me. I honestly don’t know where I would be without her.

However my experience with my benefits people through work have been hit and miss. I had one great one who really fought for me and my situation. I really appreciated her. But of course she immediately got a different job somewhere else and someone else took their place. They have not been the most supportive or helpful. If anything I have found they have added to my stress.

But one of the big things I have learned is that you can not depend on, or expect people to support or advocate you (even the people who you are supposed to). So you need to advocate and fight for yourself.

This can be difficult when you are dealing with burnout, or mental health problems because it can be hard to even think straight or function, let alone be able to basically put up a fight. I’ve found it helpful to mentally prepare.

In calm moments I will write down how I am feeling, symptoms, or anything I feel I would want someone to know. That way if I suddenly get surprised with a phone call, or questions that throw me off guard, or I am just having a foggy day and can’t think straight I have something I can refer to.

Hopefully this helps if you are dealing with someone similar.

Conclusion…

Garlic bread is such a simple recipe to make, but it really can add something special to any other recipes that you make.

Please enjoy.

And take care of yourself.
